WorldFest-Houston Int’l Festival to host ‘Goodbye Olympic’

Iranian short ‘Goodbye Olympic’ is to attend 53rd WorldFest-Houston Int'l Film Festival in the US.

Iranian short flick ‘Goodbye Olympic’ has been shortlisted to attend the 2020 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in the US.

The Annual WorldFest-Houston will be screening Mojtaba Pourbakhshi’s directorial debut during its 53rd edition.

The short film narrates the story of a sailor who faces many problems on the way to reach Olympic.

“A girl is a champion of kayak waiting to leave for the race, held in France, for the Olympic qualification. The departure of the kayaking team will be canceled due to the emergence of various problems,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Goodbye Olympic’ will be also in contention at some other global film events this year, including Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPIFEST) in the US (June 4-7, 2020), the 16th West Chester Film Festival in the US (April 24-26, 2020) and the 30th Mediawave Film Festival in Hungary (April 27- May 02, 2020).

Earlier this year, Pourbakhshi also attended the Triste Para Sempre (Sad Forever) Film Festival in Portugal.

The WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival is considered to be the third longest running and oldest independent film and video festival in the world.

Founded in 1968 as the International Film Society, the event is held annually in April.

The upcoming edition of the event is slated for April 17-26, 2020.
